Kensington Green

Bennett Sullivan helped fulfill the town of Southbury’s goal to provide diversity in housing and residential care to the older residents of the community with the planning and design of Kensington Green. The assisted living development connects with the town’s streetscape system to provide connection and community to residents.

Bennett Sullivan planned and designed this 120-unit Assisted Living Facility that is three stories in height with approximately 108,000 SF located along the central portion of Main Street South in Southbury, Connecticut. The project included the creation of a new one-acre pond between the building and the street, to be enjoyed by residents and the community alike. The project’s massing and scale are in proportion to the street and its size is masked by landscaping on this eight-acre land parcel.

The location is within walking distance to schools, movie theaters, town buildings and the town green, the neighborhood shopping center, all with a direct connection to the town’s Streetscape system. The project garnered unanimous approvals from town commissions, in part based on the positive feedback from Heritage Village residents and other community members during the public hearings.
